Due to the difficulty in sourcing this rattan locally, the base of the item was purchased internationally.
This captivating marine-inspired wall artwork is constructed from heavy-duty metal and handwoven with sustainably sourced rattan material. Miffy Pittaway has infused a uniquely Australian decorating style into her work, showcasing her dedication to Victorian seashell art by incorporating stunning seashells collected over the past forty-two years from various locations, including Sandy Point Surf Beach, Walkerville Bay, and Waratah Bay Beaches in South Gippsland, Country Victoria, Australia.
In her late forties, Miffy Pittaway is deeply passionate about seashells and their wondrous beauty. This piece also includes pre-purchased white carrie seashells sourced internationally, along with visually stunning toffee-colored sea glass collected from the magnificent Flinders Beach in Victoria, Australia.
To accentuate the tree branches of this handcrafted piece, Miffy Pittaway has cut down 4cm and 10cm pieces of nautical boat rope and fishing flyers, which she collected embedded in the wet and dried seaweed of Flinders Beach, Victoria, Australia.
